Connecting with Self: How Blockages make us feel like strangers in our own body

One day you wake up and suddenly,, it's like you don't recognize yourself. We've all been there. In those moments, it's important to have gratitude and patience with yourself, knowing that with a little maintenance and fine-tuning, we can get back to ourselves and to our Home bodies and reconnect with our higher purpose.

Every now and then, I get into a space where mentally, I feel unsure and unclear. It can feel like brain fog or a blockage in my body preventing me from moving forward or making actions that I know in my heart will benefit me. In a world that often demands constant progression, it's no surprise that we occasionally feel spiritually, emotionally, and physically stuck.

Slowing down and returning to basics isn't unnatural—it's a necessity. Our bodies often tell us when we need to take a break and refocus, however, we might not always recognize the signs that we are moving too fast to keep up with. Recognizing the need for a pause is the first step. Acknowledging that making time for Self isn't selfish but mandatory is the second. Taking time to nurture the parts of us that are decaying or starved is self-care. What's blocking us from attaining our true desire for transformation means clearing the obstacles hindering our transformation and requires self-reflection, planning, and compassion.

In the Twi language of Ghana, there's a term, Sankofa, which means "to retrieve." This principle is epitomized by the proverb: "Se wo were fi na wosankofa a yenkyi," translated as "It is not wrong to go back for that which you have forgotten." This principle mirrors our daily lives. Acknowledging our history, experiences, and lessons learned shapes our knowledge, influences our intuition, and anchors us during moments of self-doubt. How can we move forward without acknowledging our past, regardless of how recent it may be? Healing has no expiration date.

Remember, it's perfectly okay to carve out space for yourself, dedicating time to self-care and recovery. If the weight of your experiences becomes too much, having a guiding presence can help untangle these complexities and lead you back to your complete self. As a transformation coach, I offer guidance and reassurance, supporting clients in reconnecting with their compassionate selves—their true north. It's the voice rooted in experience that directs them when they feel lost.

If the stresses of life have overwhelmed you, consider incorporating unregulated joy into your schedule. Engaging in activities that bring you happiness will always lead you back to your authentic self. Prioritize your well-being; after all, your journey to rediscovery begins with self-compassion and self-love.
